
Trades Career Entry Program
The Golisano Construction Technology Training Program is a six-week intensive program that provides focused hands on training in the skilled trades with the intent of pairing graduates with local contractors in entry level positions. Participants of the program receive hands on training in the following trades: Rough Framing; Roofing; Plumbing and Pipe-Fitting; Basic Electrical Wiring; HVAC Fundamentals; Drywall; Painting and Finish work. While most of the learning is held in the lab, there is a healthy amount of classroom theory and safety lessons provided prior to each topic.
To compliment the hands on training provided, participants also receive foundational skills training in preparation for obtaining full time employment in the construction trades. Topics include but are not limited to job site etiquette and communication, teamwork, financial skills and productive conflict resolution techniques. Participants will also prepare a resume and along with partaking in mock interviews preparing them to accept employment upon graduation.

Application Process:
Prior to acceptance into the program, participants must be nominated by a person of influence in their life this can be a mentor, family member, teacher, supervisor etc. – Download the fillable Nominator Submission form below
Applicants can download and fill in the application below and submit with their nomination form
Once applications have been received, prospective participants will be given access to earn the OSHA-10 Construction Safety Certification (administered online) a prerequisite to joining the program.
Once these steps are completed participants are invited in for a pre-screening and consultation to ensure they are ready to work full time in the trades. Upon acceptance into the program, participants must adhere to a weekly composite score of 80% to continue week to week. Grades are based on attendance, engagement, safety and weekly exams, all of which are open book.
