- Diagnostics: The Heat Pump Troubleshooting course is designed to ensure technicians are able to provide a precise diagnosis. This includes diagnosing common heat pump issues, including frost buildup, strange noises, or insufficient heating or cooling.
- Troubleshooting: We ensure you have the skills and knowledge to troubleshoot a wide range of electrical and mechanical issues, from bad capacitors to compressor failure.
- Inspections: Part of any heat pump repair is ensuring that the repaired system is operating at peak performance. Our instructors cover the appropriate efficiency checks and system optimization that technicians should perform at the end of any service.
Certifications
Participants in the Heat Pump Troubleshooting course will receive the ITEC Heat Pump 2 (service) certification, which is backed by ACCE. Upon completion of the course, trainees can pay an extra fee to receive additional independent certifications from our prestigious partners. This includes the N.A.T.E. Air to Air Heat Pump Service certification for a fee of $140 and the ESCO Heat Pump Service verification for a fee of $35.
Tools & Prerequisites
The Heat Pump Troubleshooting is an advanced course aimed at elevating the expertise of HVAC technicians. In order to enroll, trainees must have completed EPA 608 Type 2 or Universal, ITEC Heat Pump 1, or have tested out with ESCO Employment Ready Heat Pump ($15 fee). In addition, technicians must bring their own tools, including but not limited to:
- Digital or analog multimeter
- Capacitor tester
- Refrigeration gauge
- Thermometer
- Electronic refrigerant leak detector
- Anemometer
- Vacuum pump
- Wrenches
- Screwdrivers
- Nut drivers
